From the Program: “I first read Little Murders eight years ago. I was in the early stages of bringing this production to life when the 9/11 attacks occurred. Feiffer’s chaotic vision of the paranoia and moral decline now feels all the more appropriate. Turmoil comes and goes. We have little control over it. What matters is whether we can sit back and laugh about it at the end of the day. I hope we still can.
New York Times theatre reviewer Clive Barnes wrote, “[Feiffer] muses on urban man, the cesspool of urban man’s mind, the beauty of his neurosis, and the inevitability of his wilting disappointment.” I have had fun keeping things on the edge. Hopefully others will gain from my insane, random, and reckless production. My thanks go out to all who indulged me!”
From the Press Release: “‘The vision I have is dynamic and explosive. The kitchen wall is being riveted with bullets. It’s a war zone,’ says Alexis Hanawalt, director of Little Murders opening at the Zephyr Theatre, Friday, March 8.
He continues, “My decision to put on this production took on a timeliness after September 11th. I went back and looked at the script and what I found was a very poignant statement about what happens when we become victims, about how we group together, and about how through retaliation, we may eventually just become a part of the problem.”
